Bishop Breeze

Hey folks! It's May 16th and I'm looking forward to a Pasadena team reunion in just three weeks and two days. It was exciting to vote for Elizabeth Cumbest as one of three finalists in the Devo'Zine soul tunes competition... the deadline was yesterday and now all we get to do is wait to hear the winner announced. Since returning we have made several contacts that may well generate several thousand dollars for the Gulf Coast affected areas after Katrina... pretty cool! This Friday we will be helping with a presentation regarding Mission Mississippi being held at our city park. If you're passing through, look for those bright green shirts. Thanks to all y'all who have such incredible faith, hope, resiliency and love of the Lord. Our week in Hancock Co., Mississippi was amazing!
Blessings, SueC

Levels of Progress

These two shots show the levels of progress being made here on the coast. The top picture shows a house that has pretty much been gutted, but clearly still needs work done on removing the roofing, and other structural problems. Whereas the bottom picture shows a house (with its dumpster) in the process of being "mucked out" next to one that has been rebuilt (or possibly built from scratch).

Main Street UMC

Notice the steeple is missing....it landed in the street after the hurricane, and when the national guard folks went to move it (and dispose of it), a man came out and told them they weren't going to take it. They disagreed, so he went and got his gun to prove he was serious and they were NOT going to take it. So, now it lies about a block from the church behind a few homes that remain battered (a few of us thought it had landed there initially...)
